At the end of July 2011 the residential offer in Łódź comprised 2.7 thousand new flats, with more than 36% comprising completed residential premises.
In the case of Łódź all its districts (Bałuty, Górna, Polesie, Śródmieście and Widzew) constituted a similar share in the total supply of new flats at the end of this year’s July: Polesie 25%, Widzew nearly 23%, Górna almost 19%, Śródmieście 17% and Bałuty nearly 17%. The biggest share of new completed flats was observed in Bałuty (nearly 61%) and Polesie – 57%. In Śródmieście the share of completed dwellings in the total district supply reached 14% and was the lowest among districts in Łódź. In July only two new projects were launched in Łódź – the total number of flats in their offer did not exceed 100. In the case of Łódź worth noting is the fact that every district made up a similar share in the total Łódź supply of new flats. This results from the historic development of the city based on industry. Communications layout, existing residential estates and technical infrastructure make it possible to realise new projects in every district. This makes Łódź different to other large cities like Warsaw or Wrocław where some areas are very poorly represented on the residential market.
